FRIDAY, July 18, 2008: Ten-Pin Bowling.
The indomitable (in spirit) Norumbega Lodge Bowling Team and guests will again bowl at 6:45 pm at Lanes and Games on Route 2 in Cambridge, near the Alewife "T" station.
The facility has a restaurant for supper, but come early and expect to wait a long while for service if you plan to eat. There are ample assortments of balls for borrowing and shoes for renting. The "Team" consists of all who show up, so don't hesitate to join in. All members and guests are welcome. To assure that the proper number of lanes are reserved, please be sure to notify Karen as soon as possible, preferably by June 20, if you wish to join in.
SATURDAY, August 2, 2008, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.: Maine Nordmenn "Hummer Fest".

Sons of Norway Member Price is $25 per adult, $15 per child, children under 12 free. Non-member Price is $30 per adult, $20 per child, children under 6 free.

Social and Cultural Meetings
Friday, June 13, 2008: Social Meeting: "Strawberries and Scholarships."
NOTE: To avoid conflict with the District 3 Convention, this meeting will be held on the SECOND Friday, rather than the first.
For our final meeting before the summer, come for the Six (6) Esses—Set-up, Suggestions, Socializing, Strawberries, Scholarships, and Surprise—in that order.
6:30 PM—Rekrutt Trening—Set-up of the Nordic Hall for meeting by anyone who has never done it before: Coach—John Gregg, Social Director.
7:00 PM—Brainstorming Suggestions for an improved Fair.
7:30 PM—Socializing with strawberry treats—all are welcome to bring favorite dishes, strawberry or otherwise.
8:00 PM—Lodge meeting with presentation of Scholarships with thanks to the Scholarship Committee: Anika Gregg, Chair; Michael Arnum; Lynn Christensen, Kari Heistad, Faith Stimson.
8:30 PM—Surprise group activity.
Members whose last names start with “P” through “Z” will also help set up for the meeting at 6:30.

Meeting Location and Time: Scandinavian Living Center (SLC), 206 Waltham Street., West Newton, Massachusetts. Unless stated otherwise, all meetings are held on the first Friday of each month except July and August, and begin at 8:00 p.m., preceded by a half-hour social period with refreshments at 7:30 p.m.
Directions: From 128 north or south take exit 26 and go east
on Route 20 to Waltham. Turn right on Prospect to Maple to High to Waltham Street
(no abrupt turns). The SLC is at the intersection with Crafts Street, where there
is a small park in the center.

Small Group Workshops
Sessions taking place in a single morning or afternoon, on a variety of subjects in Scandinavian crafts and literature which would be difficult to present as programs for regular Lodge meetings.

Norwegian Language Classes
The Fall session of Norwegian Language Classes offered by Norumbega Lodge #3-506 will begin the week of October 6th. Classes at beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels will again be offered at a modest fee. Velkommen or velkommen tilbake! Schedule Information.

Scandinavian Living Center Tribute to Dr. Erling Johansen
There will be a tribute to the late Norumbega Lodge member Dr. Erling Johansen on Sunday, September 28, at the Scandinavian Living Center. He is especially beloved to us for his work in establishing the SLC.
Boston’s Scandinavian a cappella Folk Ensemble Needs Your Voice
Stämbandet, Boston’s Scandinavian a cappella folk ensemble, currently has openings for bass, baritone and tenor.
Fluency in a Scandinavian language preferred but not required. Ensemble experience required. Please call 978-448-

Norwegian Dance, Alternate Fridays, Fall-Winter Season
Enjoy traditional Norwegian gammal and springar folk dances with fiddle, zither, jaw harp, and Hardanger fiddle music played by local and guest from across the US and Norway.
